Hi there!
My name is Sarah Sandusky, and I’m the owner of Harness Pet Care as well as the primary sitter. I grew up in Ann Arbor, Michigan with a sweet beagle named Melby and an independent black cat named Binx. I graduated with my BFA in Fine Art from the College for Creative Studies in Detroit and have lived in the surrounding area since 2013. I have eight years of experience pet sitting, caring for dogs and cats in their own homes.
My love for animals comes from a place of deep empathy for those who depend on the care of others. I’m attuned to the physical and emotional needs of those around me - noticing when a pet seems uncomfortable or when they need extra attention. It is my belief that pets can experience forms of loneliness, confusion, or boredom when their person is away, and I aim to respond to that in a grounded, reassuring way. Safety is a priority in my work. Harness Pet Care is fully insured and bonded, and I approach each visit with clear plans and steady decision-making so your pets and home are cared for responsibly.

The Story So Far
Pet sitting started as a hobby for me. I signed up on Rover in 2017 as a way to make some extra income while working remotely full-time for a software company. It meant something to me to form relationships with local pets and the pet community, especially as working remotely began to alienate me from my surroundings. Pet sitting has since become my passion and main line of work.
I started Harness Pet Care because I know how much trust it takes to leave your pets and home in someone else’s hands. I wanted to create a service built on kindness, consistency, and clear communication for pet parents who can’t always be there themselves.
Right now, it’s just me as the sole provider, so you’ll always know exactly who’s walking through your door and caring for your pets. In the future, I plan to grow thoughtfully by bringing on sitters who share these same values. My hope is that Harness Pet Care gives you the peace of mind to be present even when you have to be away.
