Harness Pet Care’s mission is to provide exceptional pet care by being a trusted partner to animals and their families - through anticipating needs and committing to clear communication and consistency.
Hi there!
My name is Sarah Sandusky, and I’m the owner of Harness Pet Care. I grew up in Ann Arbor, Michigan with a sweet beagle named Melby and an independent black cat named Binx. I graduated with my BFA in Fine Art from the College for Creative Studies in Detroit and have lived in the surrounding area for the past 13 years.
My love for animals comes from a place of deep empathy for those who depend on the care of others. The strengths I carry as a visual artist show up in how I care for animals, too. I tend to notice the subtle things - when a pet seems uncomfortable or when they need a little extra attention. I’m patient and give them the time and space they need to feel safe and settle in. When something unexpected comes up, I stay calm and make practical decisions to keep everyone safe.
Offering pet sitting services is one way I get to support my community as well as share my care and consistency with others. Please feel free to reach out anytime to chat about your pets!
The Story So Far
Pet sitting started as a hobby for me. I signed up on Rover in 2017 as a way to make some extra income while working remotely full-time for a software company. It meant a lot to me to form relationships with local pets and the pet community, especially as working remotely began to make me feel disconnected from my surroundings. What started as a small side gig grew into something much more meaningful, and eventually became my passion and full-time work.
I started Harness Pet Care because I know how much trust it takes to leave your pets and home in someone else’s hands. I wanted to create a service built on kindness, consistency, and clear communication for pet parents who simply can’t always be there themselves.
Right now, it’s just me as the sole provider, so you’ll always know exactly who’s walking through your door and caring for your pets. In the future, I plan to grow thoughtfully by bringing on sitters who share these same values. My hope is that Harness Pet Care gives you the peace of mind to be present and focused, even when you have to be away.
